Autumnal Inspiration Featuring New Yarns from Lamana

With August upon us, we're heading into our busiest season of the year, and new yarns for fall are arriving daily. With that being said, we're thrilled to introduce the arrival of Lamana yarns! Lamana is a wool company founded in 2010 in Bielefeld, Germany. Inspired by a love for handknitting, wool and fashion, they specialize in premium Peruvian yarns and work exclusively with select wool spinning mills in Italy and Peru. In the production of their yarns, Lamana attaches great importance to the origin of the wool, the breeding conditions and the further processing and dyeing of the selected fibers.
In our first shipment from Lamana we've stocked up on a few of their bases; Como and it's sibling Como Tweed, as well as their latest release: the gorgeous bouclé yarn, Torino.
Lamana Como is a three-ply twisted "superlight" DK yarn made of 100% superfine merino wool with 18.5 microns. Como boasts an impressive 131 yards on only 25 grams and it gets its unique lightness (and extremely soft feel!) through an innovative manufacturing method. The mulesing-free raw Merino wool for Como is sourced from selected Australian shepherds and then spun and dyed in Italy by a family-run traditional company. It's also certified regarding animal welfare, sustainability and social responsibility and is dyed according to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.
Lamana Como is a particularly versatile yarn; thanks to its softness and machine washability, it's well suited for baby clothes, accessories and everything that should be cuddly and soft. Como isn't just for baby items though - we find it especially great for larger knit garments. The "superlight" nature of this yarn means it's holds it's shape well, so you can construct items like heavily cabled sweaters without worrying about them stretching out with wear. We chose to stock the mélange palette for the added depth of color, and we have 17 colors in stock to choose from!
Lamana Como Tweed is the fashionable sibling to Como, adding a subtle tweed look to the original Como yarn. This three-ply "superlight" DK yarn is made of the same 100% superfine merino wool with 18.5 microns as Como, and shares the same yardage of 131 yards per ball. We currently offer a curated palette of 9 colors of Como Tweed, and encourage you to mix and match it with Como.

Lamana Torino is a scrumptious ,sport weight bouclé yarn made of 80% superfine merino wool and 20% silk. This yarn is also part of Lamana's "superlight" family, and has 200 yards on each 25 gram ball.
Torino is an exceptionally luxurious yarn designed to be worn year round. It feels wonderfully soft on the hands, and is perfect for next to skin garments and accessories. We love its incomparable lightness and gently flowing drape. Note that Torino is hand wash only, so keep that in mind when choosing your projects.
