Grid Gambit Cowl Kits are Here
Aug 14th 2025
Do you ever cast on a new project thinking "I'll just knit a few rows" and suddenly realize you've spent the whole entire day knitting?! That's what happened to Sarah when she started this Grid Gambit cowl. "I love the look of a bandana style cowl, and this one seemed like it would be a fun knit - I just had no idea quite how addicting it would be! I highly recommend giving this pattern a shot, it'll be your go-to accessory for fall". Now that Sarah's onto knitting her third (yup, third) version of this cowl, we decided to spread the word about how knit worthy it is... and even put together a Grid Gambit Cowl Kit in 10 carefully curated colorways, so there's plenty of options to choose from.
Grid Gambit by Samantha Guerin is worked flat beginning at one corner, shaped with increases and decreases, and seamed after blocking. The cowl features an allover mosaic pattern, built in i-cord edges and an i-cord bind off. Did we mention the pattern includes both written and charted instructions? Absolute perfection. If you're not familiar with mosaic knitting, we encourage you to give it a try. Unlike traditional stranded colorwork (where you're using two or more strands at a time), mosaic knitting uses only one strand at a time. In addition to making colorwork simpler to manage, you get fewer floats and a more flexible fabric.
The Grid Gambit cowl featured above was knit using Colorway A.
Each Grid Gambit Cowl Kit includes a printed copy of the pattern and all the yarn you need to knit the cowl: 1 skein of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool yarn and 2 balls of De Rerum Natura Ulysse Yarn in complementary colors. We love how the subtly mottled colors of the DK weight Ulysse bring an earthy level of depth to the project, and find they work up beautifully with the ever-changing hues of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool.
Need more than one project? Here are some more of our favorite kits.
